Zoo. Prison or preserve? Our responsibility to protect wildlife? Our desire to control, classify, incarcerate? Roaring, railing, roaming, ranging. Restrained by railings and ramparts? Animals looking out, humans looking in? The reverse? Need we do this? If not, would we suffer, would our knowledge of the world be diminished? Animals. Are we any better?
