“If you could read a book containing all that has happened and will ever happen in your life, would you? If you choose to read it, you must read it cover to cover.”
Today’s challenge set by WordPress Daily Prompt by michelle w is “This Is Your Life”
For me, the answer would be no.
Where would be the hope of new experiences, new life, new joy?
The only certainty the day we die?
I’d like to twist the challenge a little.
You walk by a stand of public telephones.
You hear a telephone ringing.
Answering the telephone on the left will let you know when and how you die.
The other, on the right, will allow you to pose any single question that you wish, and you will receive the truth.
Which, if either, telephone would you pick up?
And why?
They can both go on ringing, they aren’t for me. I have no interest in learning the how and when of my ultimate demise, that would take all the surprise and suspense out of life. While I have questions I’d love to know the answers to, I’ve come to realize that most of the time those questions are better left unanswered.
I agree, I like to believe that we can shape our own destinies, or at least choose from a range! The idea that everything is all mapped out is not for me…
Thank you for visiting belgradestreets and taking time to comment.
I would pick the right one.
I would pick up the phone on the right. And then probably ask something stupid like, “where is that scarf I lost last December?” If that telephone existed, I wouldn’t want to have to explain to someone that I had chosen to walk right by.
Thanks for taking a look and making a choice 😉
